DOUBLE BALANCED A-SYMMETRIC GEOMETRY
Specially designed for single-ended applications, it provides a relatively lower ground impedance and a richer and more dynamic experience. While most single-ended cable designs use the same conductor for both ground and shielding, the Double-Balanced design separates them for cleaner and quieter performance.
SOLID 100% PERFECT-SURFACE SILVER CONDUCTORS
(PSS)Perfect-Surface technology applied to silver with extreme purity provides unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast. Solid conductors prevent mutual interference between the wires in twisted cables, which is a major source of distortion in cables. Perfect-Surface Silver with extreme purity minimizes distortion caused by the interfaces between atoms in a metal conductor, virtually eliminating hardness and increasing clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N, and other copper types.
CARBON-BASED 3-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS)
Achieving 100% shielding is simple. To prevent captured radio frequency interference (RFI) from modulating the equipment's ground reference, AQ's Noise-Dissipation System (NDS) is required. Traditional shielding systems typically absorb noise/RF energy and then dissipate it to the component's ground, modulating and distorting the critical "reference" ground plane, which in turn causes signal distortion. The alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded plastics of NDS "shield the shield" and absorb and reflect most of this noise/RF energy before it reaches the layer attached to the ground.
FEP AIR-TUBE INSULATION (FEP is a Fluoropolymer)
Any solid adjacent to a conductor is essentially part of an imperfect circuit. Cable insulation and printed circuit board materials absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and released as distortion. Uses Air-Tube insulation for all conductors because air virtually absorbs no energy, and FEP is the best extrudable solid insulation material that also absorbs less energy than other materials. The FEP Air-Tubes used surround the solid PSS conductors with almost nothing but air.
DIELECTRIC-BIAS SYSTEM WITH RADIOFREQUENCY TRAP
All insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric whose properties affect the integrity of the signal. When the dielectric has no bias, dielectric involvement (absorption and non-linear release of energy) causes different amounts of time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a serious problem for highly time-sensitive audio with multiple octaves. The inclusion of an RF Trap (developed for AudioQuest's Niagara series power products) ensures that radio frequency noise is not induced into the signal conductors of the DBS field elements. COLD-WELDED DIRECT SILVER-PLATED PURE 'PURPLE-COPPER' RCA PLUGS
This plug design allows for a solder-free connection, a common source of distortion. Because the plugs are not machined but pressed, a metal with low distortion can be chosen without considering machinability. Purple copper provides a cleaner, clearer sound than the nickel-plated or OFHC metals typically used in the plugs of competing manufacturers. The direct silver-plating adds even more purity and protection to the original signal.
