AudioQuest Carbon USB Lightning

MASSIVE 5% SILVER-PLATED CONDUCTORS

Massive conductors prevent mutual interference between the wires in twisted cables and reduce jitter. Massive silver-plated conductors are perfect for high-frequency applications such as USB audio. These signals, because they have such a high frequency, almost exclusively travel over the surface of the conductor. Because this surface is made of a very pure grade of silver, the performance is almost equal to that of a solid silver conductor, but the pricing is much closer to that of solid copper cables. This is an incredibly cost-effective way to produce high-quality USB cables.

CARBON-BASED 3-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS)

100% shielding is easy to achieve. To prevent the captured radio frequency interference (RFI) from modulating the equipment's ground reference, AQ's Noise-Dissipation System (NDS) is required. Traditional shielding systems typically absorb noise/RF energy and then dissipate it to the component's ground, thereby modulating and distorting the critical "reference" ground plane itself, which in turn causes signal distortion. The alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded plastics of NDS "shield the shield" and absorb and reflect most of this noise/RF energy before it reaches the ground layer.

FOAM-POLYETHYLENE INSULATION

Any solid material next to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and printed circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Because air absorbs virtually no energy and polyethylene has low loss and a good distortion profile, Foamed-PE with its high air content causes much less of the blurring effect that occurs with other materials.

All conductors checked for RF (radio frequency) noise directionality
