Semi-solid concentric long-grain copper (LGC) conductorsIn a conventional multi-strand cable, distortion caused by electrical and magnetic strand interaction is exacerbated when each strand changes position within the bundle. In an AQ Semi-Solid Concentric cable, the strands in the bundle maintain their fixed relationships, significantly reducing distortion. Long-Grain Copper (LGC) provides a smoother and clearer sound than cables that use ordinary OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. LGC has fewer oxides in the conductive material, fewer impurities, fewer grain boundaries, and absolutely better performance.

Hard-Cell Foam insulation

Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) insulation provides critical signal pair geometry. Any solid material next to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and printed circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Hard-cell foam insulation is similar to the foamed PE used in our more affordable Bridges & Falls cables, and is injected with nitrogen to create air bubbles. Since nitrogen (like air) does not absorb energy and therefore does not release energy from or into the conductor, distortion is reduced. Additionally, the stiffness of the material ensures that the cable's conductors maintain a stable relationship over the entire length of the cable, creating a stable impedance characteristic and further minimizing distortion.
