MASSIVE PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER + conductors (PSC+)
Perfect-Surface Copper+ has an amazingly smooth and pure surface. Patented metal processing technologies protect the surface of the conductor at every stage of the production process, from drawing to manufacturing. When copper with high purity and minimal oxides is kept as soft, pure, and smooth as possible, you get a fantastic PSC+ conductor with low distortion. The result is a sound quality that is even more focused and simply less obstructive. For over 30 years, AudioQuest has been a pioneer in the use of superior metals, but even we were surprised by this enormous leap in performance made possible by Perfect-Surface technology. PSC+ clearly outperforms previously available copper metals, regardless of price. Conductors are solid. Electrical and magnetic interaction between the wires in a conventional cable is the main source of distortion, which often results in a somewhat ragged and harsh sound. Solid conductors are essential for the very clean sound of.
DOUBLE STAR-QUAD GEOMETRY
The relationship between the conductors determines the electrical base values of a cable (capacity and inductance). But even when these variables are kept in reasonably neutral balance, the particular geometric relationship between the conductors has a significant impact on the sound. Star-Quad geometry is not only much better than parallel conductors, but also better than the same conductors as two twisted pairs.
NOISE AND CROSSTALK SUPPRESSION SYSTEM BASED ON CARBON
The negative conductors of this cable are coated with partially conductive carbon-loaded polyethylene. This remarkable material reduces the radio frequency noise that is fed back to the amplifier. The sound benefit is exactly the same reduction in "hash" and improved dimensionality that occurs when RF interference is reduced in an audio circuit. In addition, a carbon layer dampens the interaction between positive and negative conductors, and reduces external interference from a carbon-based noise suppression system.
DIELECTRIC BIAS SYSTEM WITH RADIO FREQUENCY TRAP
All insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric whose properties affect the integrity of the signal. When the dielectric has no bias, dielectric involvement (absorption and non-linear release of energy) causes different amounts of time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a serious problem for highly time-sensitive audio with multiple octaves. The inclusion of an RF Trap (developed for AudioQuest's Niagara series power products) ensures that radio frequency noise is not induced into the signal conductors of the DBS field elements. FOAMED-POLYETHYLENE INSULATION (FOR ALL POSITIVE CONDUCTORS)
Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is essentially part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and printed circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. However, this cable uses air-filled polyethylene foam insulation on both conductors. Because air absorbs almost no energy and Polyethylene has low loss and a benign distortion profile, Foamed-PE, with its high air content, causes much less of the out-of-focus effect that is common with other materials.
