Massive PSC conductors (Perfect-Surface Copper)

Since the beginning, AudioQuest has played a pioneering role in the use of superior metals, but even they were surprised by the enormous performance leap achieved by the amazingly smooth and pure surface of Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC).

PSC clearly outperforms previous AQ metals that cost more than ten times as much. Patented metal processing technology protects the surface of the wire in every stage of drawing and manufacturing. When high-purity copper with a low oxide content is kept as soft, pure, and smooth as possible, it becomes a conductor with miraculous distortion. In a conventional cable, electrical and magnetic interaction between strands is one of the biggest sources of distortion, often causing a somewhat harsh, dirty sound. Massive conductors are essential for achieving the very pure, natural sound of Red River.

Foamed polyethylene insulation

Every solid material next to a conductor actually becomes part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and printed circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Because air absorbs almost no energy and polyethylene has low loss and a benign distortion profile, foamed PE, with its high air content, causes much less of the blurry effect that other materials commonly have.
