"Hegel C5X Multi-Channel Amplifier

The Hegel C5X Multi-Channel Amplifier is a modular multi-channel amplifier for demanding surround applications. It does not compromise on sound performance thanks to its modular design and built-in SoundEngine2 technology. The modular design allows for up to 5 powerful power amplifiers to be installed in each C5X. The C53 has 3 power amplifiers, the C54 has 4 power amplifiers, and the C55 has 5 power amplifiers. The customer can start with 3 power amplifiers and then add up to 2 more power amplifiers.

The C5X can be placed in any possible way, on the floor, on a rack, or professionally mounted in a 19" rack.

Flexibility

This means that you can build a 5.1 or Atmos theater with one or more C5s. Maybe you want to bi-amp speakers or use active crossovers? You can also use it to power multiple speakers in a mastering studio, in a restaurant, or in a home. In short, anywhere you need powerful sound with dynamics and ultra-low distortion, the C5X feels like the proverbial 'fish in water'.

The C5X uses the patented SoundEngine2 technology with its many advantages. One of them is the ability to use a low bias. This means that the high-power class A/B amplifier does not get as hot as normal, so you can install the C5X in a 19-inch rack. Another advantage of the SoundEngine2 is the very high damping factor (over 2000). Higher damping factor means deeper, faster bass reproduction and complete control over the bass drivers. That is one of the reasons why people talk about the dynamic Hegel sound. But the most important thing is the low distortion. Hegel's patented SoundEngine2 amplifiers work almost like a noise-canceling headphone. All distortion elements created in the amplifier circuits are dynamically canceled out by playing them in negative phase. So no matter how you choose to configure it, the C5 series delivers a spectacular soundstage. Never difficult or unpleasant. Always natural, smooth, and with incredible dynamics.

An example of flexibility is that the phase can be set per amplifier channel. This allows the C5X to be perfectly configured for the most demanding surround and home theater applications.
