The core of the H390 is Hegel's patented SoundEngine 2 amplifier section. The SoundEngine 2 works in many ways like a noise-canceling headphone. A computer inside the H390 takes a sample of what goes into the amplifier and compares it to what comes out. The computer subtracts the difference (distortion) and adds it to the music, but in reverse phase. The result is that the SoundEngine virtually eliminates all errors and distortions of the amplifier without any delay. Leaving you with the most musical and natural sound you have ever experienced. Then there is digital. If you are not using a turntable, you are probably using digital connections. Hegel designs both the analog and digital sections from scratch and in-house.
