Aluminum housing

The Rhein Z1's housing is made from a single block of solid aluminum. This ensures that the electronics are completely shielded from interference signals such as EMI and RFI. Inside this housing, a powerful Intel quad-core computer does its work and has only one task: to exclusively run ROON and music services.

ROON benefits

Thanks to ROON, the ease of use increases significantly. It also becomes possible to stream your favorite music to other Roon End Points in your home. This makes your music system fully multi-room and multi-brand with ROON. You can combine multiple audio brands using the built-in protocols RAAT, Airplay, Chromecast, and Sonos.

The Rhein also offers significant sound advantages with ROON. After all, ROON listens to the DAC in the receiving system and then offers the music in the ideal format. This means that the receiving DAC has to do less processing, resulting in less noise and improved music playback.

Affordable alternative

The Silent Angel Rhein Z1 is our affordable alternative for those for whom the flagship Grimm Audio MU1 is out of budget. The Grimm MU1 naturally offers even more functionality, such as the highly advanced Oversampler and more connection options, such as being able to connect a CD player. This absolutely justifies the price difference.

Stable and fast

The Operating System is based on Tiny Linux, perhaps the best and fastest OS in the world. ROON establishes an extremely stable connection with all Roon End Points in your home network. These endpoints can be Ethernet wired or via WIFI. Every DAC connected via USB is also recognized by ROON as an endpoint. Many brands and types of active speaker systems are already ROON End Points, such as the KEF LSX, KEF LS50 Wireless II, Phantom Reactor, etc.

Plug and Play

With the free Silent Angel Rhein app VitOS, installing the Rhein Z1 is truly Plug-and-Play. If desired, we can provide support during the installation.

Low power consumption

The Rhein is optimized for extremely efficient use of the quad-core Intel computer. The CPU consumes an average of 6 watts, which is much lower than a laptop, MacBook, or desktop. It is also much quieter, meaning a much lower noise floor.

ROON Server license

The price of the Rhein does not include the ROON Server license, for which you need to purchase a separate subscription from ROON ($150 per year or $830 lifetime).

Built-in SSD drive

The Silent Angel Rhein Z1 can optionally be equipped with a super-fast and silent Western Digital 1TB or 2TB SSD drive, while retaining the factory warranty. The SATA SSD slots have been specifically designed to be ultra-quiet for audio. You can then copy an existing CD collection or music downloads to this SSD drive. A 1TB SSD can hold approximately 1,600 CDs!
