Vivid Audio Kaya 45
One of the clearest characteristics of Vivid Audio speakers is the impressive reproduction of low tones. Tight, deep, and free from coloration. Everything perfectly separated and distinguishable. And that's what it's all about. Because as Debussy (possibly) said: "Music is the space between the notes." The clear reproduction is the result of Vivid Audio's patented 'absorber horn' that eliminates resonances and coloration. In the GIYA series, it is visible in the form of the 'curl' at the top of the enclosure, in the KAYA 45 the same principle is applied, but folded back into the enclosure. The extremely good sound reproduction that is characteristic of all Vivid Audio speakers is preserved in this way with a speaker that is less extreme in appearance.
A positive development
The KAYA 45 is a direct descendant of the GIYA speakers and shares much of the technology. Such as the 'Super Flux Magnets' in the driver units. These radial magnets naturally have a large hole in the center through which sound can naturally flow from the diaphragm into the absorber, free from resonances and reflections. Unlike the GIYA series, this technique is not only applied to the bass drivers in the KAYA, but also to the mid-range drivers. This reduces distortion and improves performance in the higher frequencies.
Form follows function
KAYA 45 easily fills a large space with sound. Compared to the 4-way GIYA, the sound field is slightly more direct. This is inherent in a 3-way speaker where the tweeter is more forward-facing than sideways. The sound image is therefore more focused and is excellent for concentrated listening, but also offers an advantage when used in home theater systems where the precise placement of the playback source is an important element for the overall experience.
